Escape to Italy from Noisy Traditions: Anastasia and Alexey’s Wedding in Sicily

They say that our sense of smell can easily bring us back to the past. We suggested that our bride, Anastasia, choose a special fragrance—one she would wear only during the preparation period and on the wedding day itself. Now, some time later, all she needs to do is open the bottle, and the sea breeze of Taormina and the scent of blooming orange trees instantly transport her back to that very terrace. This simple detail became the first piece in the puzzle of their perfect day, where every element was chosen deliberately, not “just because it’s tradition.”

The Perfect Compromise

Anastasia and Alexey’s story began in 2016 in Vladivostok—a seaside city that taught them to love endless horizons and salty winds. Over nine years together, they traveled across almost all of Asia and conquered mountain slopes, as winter sports play a special role in their lives. Yet the idea of a wedding remained on hold for a long time. For Alexey, who had experienced loud banquets with traditional rituals and exhausting games, weddings were associated with stress and performing for an audience. Anastasia, like many girls, dreamed of a white dress and truly wanted a celebration.

Sicily became their perfect compromise. Anastasia had always dreamed of Italy, especially of visiting Florence and seeing original Renaissance masterpieces. Alexey, on the other hand, valued silence and complete privacy. They decided to escape from everyone and create a celebration not “just for the sake of it.” Wanting a relaxed atmosphere with touches of romance, Alexey supported his beloved’s dream of a wedding in Italy. Together, they chose Sicily and Taormina—a seaside town, much like the one where their story first began.

A Morning in the Rhythm of Sicily: Relaxation, Jacuzzi, Prosecco, and No Rush

Their wedding day in Taormina didn’t begin with an alarm clock, but when the sun was already high in the sky. We intentionally planned the timeline to eliminate any rush. The setting was a historic villa with a spacious terrace overlooking the sea. While the city below went on with its daily rhythm, the couple started their day in a jacuzzi with a glass of champagne, soaking in the coastal views. Anastasia chose a light, airy décor palette—against the vibrant, expressive backdrop of Sicily, an abundance of white and clean lines looked especially elegant.

A Ceremony on the Terrace, Where the Only Things in Frame Are Love and the Sea

The ceremony took place right there at the villa. The ideal seasons for Sicily are spring and autumn, and in October Taormina still feels like summer—warm, but not overwhelmingly hot. Beautiful weather and breathtaking views create truly perfect conditions for photography.

The couple exchanged rings and deeply personal, heartfelt vows. Despite the “just the two of us” format, they preserved meaningful traditions: a champagne tower and a real wedding cake were part of the celebration.

After the ceremony, the couple headed down to the sea. Taormina is a city like a living film set, preserving the authentic atmosphere of old Italy. Strolling through narrow streets, they stopped at a legendary bar made famous by scenes from The Godfather. There, surrounded by traditional Sicilian mosaics, they enjoyed Prosecco and tasted the iconic granita, sealing the flavor and memory of the day.

Listening to Yourself Is the Most Important Tradition

The day ended with a quiet dinner at a restaurant overlooking the city lights. When we asked the couple what they would one day tell their future children about this day, they replied: “It was a romantic celebration for two—the birth of our family in a beautiful place.”

This wedding became proof that you don’t have to follow traditions if they don’t feel true to you. If your comfort lies in silence and your romance in the absence of an audience, allow yourself the luxury of being authentic. On this day, only two people truly matter—and Italy becomes the perfect setting for your own personal film.

Symbolic Wedding in Italy

Alina and Dmitry, Symbolic Wedding in Sicily. Perfection of Elegance and Refinement

Alina and Dmitry dreamed of uniting their hearts during the hottest time of summer when the sun shines as brightly as their feelings for each other…

Mid-August in Italy is the hottest season, a time for relaxation and slow enjoyment of life, or as the Italians say, “dolce far niente.” Therefore, we suggested to our young couple from Moscow to spend their most important day by the sea, on the beautiful island of Sicily, where the sea breeze surrounds you with its lightness and brings joy, while the stunning nature and breathtaking views capture you at first sight.

The bride and groom started their journey from the island’s capital, Catania, and the day before the wedding, they had to make their way to Taormina. On the famous Ferragosto holiday, which is celebrated in Italy on August 15, this idea seemed nearly impossible. But not in Sicily – the locals are known for their hospitality and kind nature. Right at the local bar, they offered them a car, and soon they were at their destination!

Almost like true Sicilian aristocrats, Alina and Dmitry chose a stunning XVI-century villa for their stay. From their room window, they had an incredible view of Isola Bella – a small island off the eastern coast of Sicily, near Taormina. The island is rightly named, as even the German photographer Baron Wilhelm von Glöden called it the “pearl of the Mediterranean.”

The symbolic wedding ceremony took place in the heart of Sicily – the ancient city of Taormina, surrounded by mountains and the sea.

Even if fate gives you only one day in Sicily, spend it in Taormina!

The lovers exchanged vows of fidelity, incredibly touching and tearful. Indeed, these were not just words – even Dmitry, a tall and determined man, shed a tear and was genuinely emotional. That’s right – our ceremonies can even move James Bond! 😊

For their wedding photoshoot and a stroll through the picturesque surroundings, the couple had at their disposal an elegant Excalibur from 1939, which made them look even more like characters from a movie.

The serpentine road along the coast led Alina and Dmitry to the Madonna della Rocca Church, carved directly into the rock. This church was built in a small cave back in the 12th century and later restored in the early 17th century. It is located on the slope of Mount Tauro, which rises above the city, so it offers an incredibly beautiful panoramic view. Part of its ceiling is directly made of the rock, giving it a unique atmosphere.
We took several shots in this church, and we did not regret it: the enchanting, truly divine light highlighted Alina’s delicate and refined figure, and her dress perfectly matched the décor and patterns on the walls.

The couple’s first dance took place under the Sicilian sun at the top of Taormina, with views of Mount Etna and the island’s stunning nature, just as the couple had dreamed. Now this place will remain in their hearts forever, and they in ours.
At sunset, the couple decided to take a walk around the town, enjoying its bohemian atmosphere and elegant streets. Yes, how many writers, artists, and other aristocrats have lived and visited Taormina — it leaves no one indifferent! Some locals were lucky too, as Alina’s wedding bouquet was given to a beautiful Sicilian woman!

The next day, Alina and Dmitry traveled to Rome and Florence, where they spent their brief Italian vacation. Just five days later, our dynamic newlyweds returned to their native Moscow and soon enjoyed stunning photos from their wedding day, where every detail was truly magnificent.

Once again, we wanted to thank everyone who organized such a fantastic day for us 😍 We are still in awe, everything was perfect. We spent it exactly as we wanted! You are wonderful professionals and lovely people.

Daria and Alexey. A Wedding in Sicily. The whole Taormina sang and danced

Daria and Alexey are a young couple from Moscow. They are in love with beautiful Italy and have already visited many places. We met the couple in Rome, where they arrived after a vacation on the Amalfi Coast.

“We plan the wedding probably in December,” said Alexey. “Will it still be warm somewhere in Italy?”

Of course! How about a wedding in Sicily, where winter is not winter, and the air is simply filled with sunlight and happiness? Neither Dasha nor Alexey had been here before and were greatly inspired by the idea of seeing a new corner of Italy. They chose an apartment with a Jacuzzi and an incredible view of the Bella Island.

They decided to hold the wedding ceremony in Taormina. If you haven’t been to this Mediterranean jewel yet, you must come! This city seems to be kissed by the sun. Even Greek poets and Roman philosophers praised Taormina for its beauty. Here, the vibrant Sicilian life is bursting, and the sea landscapes will leave no one indifferent.

The bride’s festive morning started with a relaxing bath and a classic Sicilian breakfast on the terrace – coffee, brioche, and granita. Dasha wanted to spend time before the ceremony without rushing, and she definitely succeeded. Just look at the delicate and harmonious shots our photographer captured while the bride calmly prepared for the important event.

Meanwhile, the groom was looking for a surprise for his beloved. The couple wanted wedding rings from Italy, but none of the options were quite right until Alexey visited several shops in Taormina and finally found the ones! It was the best wedding gift and a souvenir from Sicily 😉

The drive to the registry office was fun and filled with music! The couple played the song “Ah, this wedding!” at full volume, and our friendly group, together with organizer Marina and photographer Irina, sang wedding songs and took photos all the way.

And finally, the long-awaited “Si!”. The signature, and the couple curiously examines their Italian marriage certificate. Just a second ago they were bride and groom, and now they’re husband and wife. We loudly shout our congratulations and do our best to capture every moment of their happiness. This day was just for Daria and Alexey, just as they had imagined – in a new beautiful place in Italy, just the two of them!

To add even more vibrant colors to their special day, Daria and Alexey rented a colorful FIAT and invited local musicians. Sicilian music filled the air with happiness, and the whole of Taormina sang and danced with the newlyweds. The music didn’t stop even at the restaurant – how else? A Sicilian wedding cannot be quiet! 😄

Antonina and Oleg’s Wedding in Sicily. Happiness in Lemon and Olive Tones

Wedding Date: September 12, 2018

Guests: 2 people (the mothers of Antonina and Oleg)

Symbolic Wedding in Italy

Wedding of Antonina and Oleg in Sicily. Happiness in Lemon and Olive Tones

A wedding in Sicily is always unique, genuine, and full of heartfelt emotions. Honestly, working in Sicily is a true pleasure for us because every single resident of this island will do everything – and even more – to make the newlyweds happy!

On this island, between Europe and Africa, you can still find the authentic Italy, whose atmosphere is so captivating and enchanting. This is truly the relaxed dolce vita surrounded by the blue waters of the Mediterranean…

Here, emotions run high, plates clink over lunch at mom’s house, and, like nowhere else, people take their time doing business while having heartfelt conversations…

For example, negotiations with the venue to host Antonina and Oleg’s symbolic ceremony took us 5 hours.

And it’s hard to even call them negotiations. More like a monologue by the hotel owner about life, family, and, as an afterthought, about our business for which we had gathered.

When we politely declined a drink while signing the wedding contract, the venue owner simply got offended! Refusing hospitality in Sicily (even if you’re at work, even if you’re driving) is considered impolite 🙂

I also want to mention the florist, who gave us a bundle of olive branches from his own garden and even went to another city for the most beautiful and photogenic lemons (since September is not lemon season in Sicily).

And it’s hard to forget the moment when all the hotel staff gathered to admire Antonina and Oleg’s wedding vows ceremony — it was so touching, gentle, heartfelt, and sincere…

What made it even more special was that, on this day filled with sincerity, smiles, and love for life, the most important people in Antonina and Oleg’s lives – their mothers – were present.

They, following the Sicilian tradition, also took part in the ceremony and gave incredibly moving words.

Love is not a cheerful thoughtless bow

Nor reproaches that hit the ribs.

Love is having a talent,

Perhaps the greatest and kindest…

Would you like more sketches?

The driver of the Rolls-Royce, a native Sicilian, stopped a police car in Taormina and asked for permission to drive the newlyweds from Belarus through the city’s main PEDESTRIAN street. Should I even mention that they gave him a green light?

Welcome to Sicily! 🙂

When asked, “Francesco, will you go home after you drop the newlyweds off at the hotel?” the Rolls-Royce driver indignantly replied, “Girls, what do you mean?! I’m going to Taormina! They have such dances on the main square!” No need to add that Francesco is 65, right? 🙂

Antonina and Oleg’s ceremony was a wedding of inspiration, a wedding that brings smiles and love, the most miraculous medicine in the world…

Here’s what Antonina wrote to us about her feelings on that day:

We want to express our sincere gratitude to Marina for organizing our special day in the colors, style, and atmosphere we had wished for. We also thank our photographer Yana for the beautiful works. This day was rich, magical, and memorable. We relaxed and celebrated. The only worries we had were when giving vows to each other, and they were pleasant ones. We confidently recommend this agency! We wish you prosperity and success!

Antonina and Oleg, thank you for your trust, for your feelings, and for your happy eyes, both on the wedding day and during the preparation days.

Take care of your love! And we will be planning and dreaming about celebrating the anniversary of your wedding with the sun in your hair, your feet sinking in the sand, and the scent of lemons filling the air…

Chin-chin!
