The history of Villa Monastero spans over nine centuries. Originally, the site was home to a Cistercian convent founded at the end of the 12th century. After the monastery was closed in 1567, the property was purchased by the Mornico family and transformed into a private residence known as Villa Leliana. During the 19th century, the villa changed owners several times, with each adding architectural elements that eventually gave the estate its distinctive eclectic style.

Today, 14 fully furnished halls preserve their original decorations, antique furniture, and historical atmosphere.
