The history of this extraordinary villa began in 1820, when the mansion, originally conceived as a hunting estate, was transformed into a hotel with the help of Leopoldo Casnedi.
Over the years, the villa’s park expanded, filled with rare plants brought back from his travels by one of its owners, Signor Porta, an engineer and botanist.
Many famous people of their time contributed to the villa’s development: the park grew to 10,000 square meters, a picturesque Liberty-style greenhouse was added, the villa gained its own small harbor, and a majestic mosaic, which still adorns the stone wall, was created.
